How to Keep Calm and Conquer Holiday Stress Part Two
Yup, here we are again with Part Two. Why? Because too many of you look stressed, angry, and sad as my kids and I sing Christmas Carols through Target. So, here are the second half of my Holiday Stress Management Tips!
6. Practice Gratitude
When things feel overwhelming, PAUSE (remove yourself if needed) and focus on the good. Gratitude has been shown to reduce stress and improve overall happiness. Take a moment to write down three things you’re thankful for each day. It’s a simple practice, but it can shift your mindset in powerful ways.
7. Be Realistic
Perfection doesn’t exist—especially during the holidays. Not every cookie will turn out Instagram-worthy, not every gift will be the “perfect” one, and that’s okay. Focus on progress over perfection, and remember that the little imperfections are often what make the holidays memorable. <–speaking from experience where my arrow valentines cookies came out looking like…male…appendages. Pro Tip: Never bake WARM sugar cookie dough…it spreads. lol
8. Don’t Forget to Rest
Between late-night wrapping sessions and early-morning festivities, sleep often takes a back seat. But rest is essential for your mental and physical health. Make it a priority to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep, and don’t hesitate to sneak in a nap if you need it!
9. Lean on Your Support System
You don’t have to do it all alone. Ask for help when you need it, whether it’s with cooking, cleaning, or emotional support (#TextTheBestie). The holidays are a time for togetherness—let the people around you lend a hand.<–delegate like a CEO! They WANT to help…well, maybe not the kids but they WILL!
10. Remember the Reason for the Season
At the end of the day, the holidays are about connection, joy, and gratitude. If something doesn’t go as planned, take a deep breath and remind yourself of what really matters. Sometimes, the best memories come from the moments we didn’t plan.
Managing holiday stress doesn’t mean avoiding it entirely—it means approaching it with intention, balance, and grace. Take care of yourself this season, and don’t forget to enjoy the magic along the way.
Here’s to a holiday season filled with more joy and less stress!
