Monday was nutrition. Wednesday was Exercise. Any guesses what today is going to be?
Nope, not supplements. Not medications. Not time blocking (which is SUPER beneficial)
It’s actually….dun dun DUUUUN
MINDSET
Which I’m sure you already deduced seeing as the word is in bold.
Did you know your mind lies to you? It tells you little lies like “it should be easy” and “it’s ok if you skip today” or “you deserve this break.” Raise your hand girl cause I KNOOOW these resonate with you!
In fact, just this morning I negotiated with myself from the moment I woke up until this very moment about whether or not to exercise today as well as whether or not to cook breakfast or get egg bites from Starbucks.
You see, both Monday and Tuesday I got to the gym at 530am and home between 7 and 8pm. Long days. Today I’m here by 6am, work straight to 2pm, off for two hours, then have a virtual apt with my mentor group until 5pm then I really need to be a mom cause ya know….Monday and Tuesday.
So I decided to do a 30 min workout during lunch, then not, then do it at 2, then not at all, then after my call (which duh wont’ happen) so I’m 100% doing it at 12:30 during my 30 minute break. Text me cause it’s for real, for real.
And I got the egg bites….bc 40g protein, it fits my macros, annnnd I’m flipping tired.
This is where the mindset comes into play
As you will NEVER want to ALWAYS hit the gym or eat the way your goals and health ask of you. BUT you HAVE to accept these truths, that life WILL happen and make the conscious decision NOT to let LIFE or EMOTION derail you from the path you’re walking.
It’s like prepping for moving…or having kids.
You are on the path. It’s happening. You accept it cause you kinda have to. You understand that NOTHING will happen smooth. You know there will be moments you require help (movers, pediatrician) and you accept that, not as weakness, but as a flipping fact that you are NOT a mover or doctor (or coach, wink wink).
BUT the key above, is before the paths are walked, they are established in your mind as a non negotiable. Gonna make it work no matter what it takes. Whatever chaos ensues as a result, or emotion.
You walk anyway.
This is why some hit the targets, and stay there, and other don’t. And no, you aren’t weak minded for not hitting and staying there, you just weren’t well equipped.
Hire yourself a mover, a doctor, a COACH to lay the path, a bricklayer as you will, to smooth out the gravel and give you direction and rearrange the bricks as life happens.
