Over and over again I either meet with women or see on social media women cutting their calories below 1000 (sometimes waaaay below) in an effort to lose weight.
Somewhere along the line weight became an if-then, addition subtraction statement with calories. If only I had a time machine to go back to the day this became the rule of thumb…or waistline, and erase this bullshit. Yes, I cussed.
The truth is…
Simply eating LESS CALORIES than you burn does NOT EQUAL fat-loss
Ok wait, lets explain that part.
When women say they want to lose weight, they don’t mean POUNDS, they mean BODYFAT.
Body fat is comprised of cells bound together made up of toxins, excess hormones, and stored energy.
In order to lose a cell of body fat, we must first be able to metabolize it. Like cleaning out your closet, that requires energy, know-how, a plan, all the things. In order for your BODY to do that, it needs…
ENERGY…CALORIES….the KNOW HOW…being, NUTRIENTS!
Did you know eating too low actually causes your body to metabolize MUSCLE TISSUE to pull the NUTRIENTS it needs to FUNCTION! Yea, to digest food, for the brain to think, heart to pump, it takes from your body. The highest quality parts.
Not fat cells. Remember, what fat cells are….stored toxins, hormones, extra energy.
So what do you do?
Eat nutrient dense food. As your body, metabolic systems, increase in capacity and function, the ability to DETOX FAT CELLS increases.
Then it becomes a game of establishing an effective and functional detox system led by hormones, led by organs, fed by nutrients…not stored toxins.

Yes, if you’re used to functioning with low calories, you may GAIN weight if you increase calories. This is because your body is like oh snap, nutrients, lets hold it for when we get none again. Not to mention the cortisol and estrogenic effects happening but that’s a story for a different day.
