POOP
A big surprise to most women I chat with is you are supposed to have a bowel movement every single day. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.
To understand WHY we should poop daily, we have to understand WHY we poop to begin with.
Pooping, or defecation, is a necessary part of digestion that removes waste from the body. The large intestine forms stool, or poo, from the indigestible parts of food, lining of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, and bacteria. The small intestine absorbs nutrients and most of the liquid from food, leaving behind insoluble and non-digested material. In the large intestine, water is removed from the food, making it firmer and more solid.
Similarly, one of the primary routes for toxins to leave our bodies is through the bowels or intestines. Constipation leads to impaired elimination and actually spreads the toxins that the poo was going to eliminate, back into the body.
So if you aren’t eliminating every day, here are 3 THINGS TO INTEGRATE to have CONSISTANT bowel movements:
- drink more water: if your primary liquid is coffee, tea, or soda, you are dehydrating your body, your cells, your organs. water is an essential nutrient for your body
- eat less junk: junk food increases inflammation and the amount of toxins your body has to process so if you’re already struggling to poop out toxins, DON’T ADD MORE!
- take magnesium: probiotics, prebiotics, and digestive enzymes are great but most likely you need to decrease inflammation and increase motility first so take some magnesium to get those pipes a moving!
