Fat Loss vs Weight Loss Part Two

Fat Loss vs Weight Loss Part Two

Monday we chatted a bit about focusing on WEIGHT LOSS, running through what we typically focus on and how it affects our bodies including the ever-so-frustration, bounce back.

Believe it or not, there is an alternative to Weight Loss…that is, FAT LOSS

The FIRST and most MAJOR difference between the two is how the focus shifts with regards to what happens TO the body!

When we focus on FAT LOSS, we first have to understand what a fat cell is and HOW to actually LOSE the fat cell.

Fat cells are stored toxins, excess hormones, and excess calories or units of energy <—which explains why we DO lose SOME fat cells when focusing on weight loss but also the toxins and hormones part explains why we GAIN it all back….right?

To lose a fat cell, we have to have functioning detox pathways including our gut, otherwise, we re-absorb the metabolized toxins and hormones. This can cause a massive onslaught of symptoms like weight GAIN, sleepiness, constipation or diarrhea, changes in menstrual cycles, and so much more.

In fact, MOST women have these symptoms before even starting a weight loss journey then wonder why their attempts fail!

But all of that is an email for another day (check your history cause I def sent some discussing this)

Let talk about the action steps…

With a focus on FAT LOSS, having an understanding of the WHAT and HOW of fat cells, we KNOW we have to do the following:

  1. eat nutrient dense foods that support detoxification (gut, hormones, etc)
  2. support our organs detoxing = exercise
  3. maintain or balance hormones = exercise
  4. exercise

What we DON’T do is cut out all the calories, instead we focus on adding in foods that help our bodies work better, more efficiently and effectively

We also DON’T just BURN BURN BURN calories, instead we focus on movement that helps our bodies work better, more efficiently and effectively by adding in weight training which builds muscle tissue, which elevates our resting metabolic rate, which also produces healthy hormones, which also balances blood sugar, which also minimizes stress, which also strengthens our immune systems….

SEE THE DIFFERENCE YET!?!?

Doing the above, creates a foundation for LONG TERM “weight loss” along with long term HEALTH…not just health, a long term, better functioning body that just so happens to be smaller and more toned!

A Fat Loss focus automatically assumes a lifestyle change that includes nutrition and resistance training where as Weight Loss sacrifice anything and everything, including metabolic health, to drop pounds, even if those are good pounds, like muscle tissue.

I get it. It’s a lot. And its confusing and frustration but this is literally what I do every single day of my life. Reach out. Schedule a 1:1 with me. I can help.
